Methodology and limitations.
Curia publishes descriptive metadata about decisions in its research corpus. The index is a research aid—not an official court record, a complete judicial history, or a prediction of how a judge will decide a future matter.
Coverage
Profiles are generated from Canadian decisions currently indexed by Curia. Each profile reports its observed decision-year range and indexed record count. Coverage varies by court, judge, date, source availability, naming consistency, and ingestion status. An absent decision or profile does not mean that no decision exists.
Sources and links
Decision rows link to the available external source recorded with the case. Follow that link and consult the court or official publisher before relying on a decision. Curia does not claim that its copy or metadata is authoritative.
Classification
Judge and court fields originate in source metadata and are normalized for directory grouping. Practice-area and outcome labels may be machine-assisted. Labels can be missing, and a decision can have multiple practice areas. Outcome percentages use only records with a recorded outcome; every profile displays the classified and unclassified counts so the denominator is visible.
Interpretation
Counts describe this indexed corpus only. They are not judicial performance scores, success probabilities, recommendations about litigation strategy, or evidence of predisposition. Small, incomplete, or differently composed samples should not be compared as if they were equivalent.
Corrections
To report a wrong name, court, citation, link, practice area, or outcome, email support@curia.ca with the profile URL, disputed field, and supporting source. Curia reviews reported issues and updates underlying records where warranted.
